Jesús María de la Villa Garcia (born June 30, 1958) is a Spanish chess grandmaster.
He wrote his first Chess Book called “100 Endgames You Must Know: Vital Lessons for Every Chess Player” in 2008.

This book is for those who want to begin their journey to learn endgames. It includes King & pawn endgames, Rook endgames, knight endgame etc. The author has selected 100 endgame positions which he thinks are very common and important in the endgame. This book also includes many tricky positions with mind-blowing solutions.

What do I like about this book?

I read this book during lockdown, as I was staying in my native place and had a lot of time to kill. I bought this book because my trainer asked me to read the whole book. I finished reading this book within a month as I was reading other books too. The best thing about this book is that the author has explained even complex topics in the simplest way possible and also has given several examples and tests. I think reading this book will give you a good start and then you can study advanced books like “Dvoretsky’s Endgame Manuel” which is a very famous book for endgame.

About the Author

Jesús María de la Villa Garcia won the Spanish Chess Championship twice, in 1985 and 1988. He is a chess author and coach. In 2010 he was awarded the title of FIDE Senior Trainer.
